What are the submission categories?
Seven ways in — pick whichever fits your film best. Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Genre, Best Documentary (15 min max), Best 60-Second, Best Emerging Filmmaker, and the Los Feliz Award.
What's the Los Feliz Award?
This one's different. It recognizes films with real voice or impact — the kind that just feels right for this festival. We don't decide in advance how many there will be; that depends entirely on the films each year.
Do I submit separately for the Grand Prize?
No separate category exists for Best of Fest — Grand Prize. Every eligible submission is automatically considered. Just submit to the category that fits — the jury takes it from there.
How does judging actually work?
Submit your film → jury watches every submission → finalists identified per category → one winner selected → only winning films screened → every category winner gets personalized mentorship.
Fine print
Awards are merit-based — LFFF may withhold an award in any category, including the deliberately challenging 60-Second category, if no submission meets festival standards. Submission fees are non-refundable.
When & where
Winning films screen live at Barnsdall Park Theatre, Los Feliz, on May 15, 2027 — one night only. Finalists and winners are announced April 15, giving time to plan your trip.
